Thermal Energy Storage (TES) is a commercial technology that benefits the Department of War (DoW) by managing intense heat generated by advanced pulse power applications. This modular and scalable dual-use solution manages extreme heat generated by data centers, directed energy, advanced computing, and electromagnetic systems. Rather than replacing existing infrastructure, TES augments current cooling systems, like chillers, to provide significantly more cooling capacity without the need for additional electrical power. A key feature is burst cooling, which provides short bursts of cooling to manage temporary heat rises that typical chillers cannot handle alone. The TES stores latent heat in Phase Change Material (PCM), enabling high-performance burst cooling during intense operations. This allows the DoW to integrate new technologies and weapon systems without upgrading baseline power and thermal architectures. These modules increase mission effectiveness by allowing systems to operate more frequently while reducing the logistics burden and ensuring energy resilience.
