Q. Where and when is the AUSA Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence Symposium and Exposition?

The 2019 show will take place from 20-21 November 2019 in Detroit, MI at the TFC Center (formerly the Cobo Center) located at 1 Washington Blvd, Detroit MI 48226

Q. Who can attend the event?

The AUSA Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence Symposium and Exposition is not open to the public. As a private association, AUSA reserves the right to deny admission or to cancel any admission without explanation. All registrants must provide proof of identity by a Government issued photographic ID (military ID, valid US driver’s license, civilian CAC card, or Passport) and must demonstrate that they have an “identifiable relationship” with the U.S. Army. Following are examples of acceptable demonstrations of such a relationship:

  • Membership in AUSA
  • Employee of an Exhibiting Company
  • Government-Contracted employees with documented proof of a contractual relationship
  • Invited guest of an exhibiting company on exhibiting company letterhead
  • Employee of an AUSA National Partner or Community Partner
  • Membership in any component of the U.S. military
  • Civilian employee of the Federal Government
  • Member of an accredited Federal, State, or Municipal law enforcement agency, a firefighter, or an EMT/EMS
  • Member of a designated U.S. military or veteran association
  • Member of the military forces of foreign nations with passport
  • Any escorted guest of an AUSA Member

Q. How do I get to the TFC Center?

  • Take I-375 south, exit at westbound Jefferson. Proceed down Jefferson to TFC/Cobo Center straight ahead. Stay right to avoid going onto the freeway.
  • To park in TFC/Cobo Center Garage: Cross Washington Blvd. into garage entrance.
  • To park on TFC/Cobo Center Roof: Turn right on Washington Blvd. Go two blocks, then left on Congress. Stay right to avoid going onto the freeway. Past Second St., turn left into TFC/Cobo Roof Parking


  • Exit at M-10 (Lodge Freeway) south, following signs to Civic / TFC/Cobo Center.
  • To park in TFC/Cobo Center Garage: Exit (left exit) at Larned Street. At stop light, turn right on Washington Blvd., then right into garage entrance.
  • To park on TFC/Cobo Center Roof: Exit at Howard Street and proceed straight until third stop light. Turn left on Fort Street for one block. Turn right on Third Street. Road curves to left, then turn right into TFC/Cobo Roof Parking


  • Exit at M-10 (Lodge Freeway) south, following signs to Civic / TFC/Cobo Center and following directions above.


  • Take either I-75 or I-96 off of I-94 and follow directions above.

Q. Is parking available at the TFC Center?

The TFC Center has 2,246 parking spaces available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the TFC Roof Deck and in the TFC Center Congress Street Garage. View directions and a map of parking locations for a full list of options. Utilize TCF Rooftop Parking for easiest access to the event.

  • Full Symposium Registration includes access to all program sessions, the exhibit hall, a welcome networking reception on Wednesday, 20 November and all food and beverage functions within the exhibit hall.
  • Exhibit Booth Staff Exhibit Hall ONLY badges are included with the cost of the booth. This registration type does not include access to program sessions.
  • All active military and federal government (non-contractor) personnel may attend the symposium at no charge.

Q. What is the Dress Code?

Military presenters are asked to wear Class A, Army Service Uniform (ASU) and civilian presenters are asked to wear business attire. All symposium attendees may wear duty uniform/civilian business attire.

Q. May I escort high school students to the show?

Yes, we highly encourage students who are interested in Robotics or Science Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) attend our exhibit hall. Please contact our registrar, Suzanne McCollum for information on obtaining badges for student groups.

 Q. Who is speaking in the general session?

AUSA guarantees a dynamic range of speakers from the Army, DoD, and industry related to the future of the Army in the fields of autonomy and artificial intelligence. Stay up-to-date with the latest program developments by viewing the 2019 program agenda online.

Q. Where is the headquarters hotel?

The Crown Plaza Detroit Downtown Riverfront is located directly across the street from the TCF Center at 2 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226. AUSA is pleased to offer all attendees per diem rates – $131 per night/exclusive of taxes – who book within the AUSA Hotel Block. Rooms and rates are subject to availability. Hotel cut-off date: Thursday, 17 October.

Q. Can I obtain professional development credit?

AUSA’s commitment to professional development includes seminars and special presentations on the issues affecting today’s Army. Please refer to the symposium agenda for the latest schedule. Army National Guard and United States Army Reserve personnel attending program sessions are authorized one retirement credit for each day’s attendance if at least four hours are spent in program sessions in uniform (reference NGR 680-2 and Army Regulations 140-1 and 140-185). Recommend personnel be placed on orders in a non-pay status to document time.
