Defender

DEFENDER is a third generation, man-portable, robot deployable jammer designed specifically for certified bomb technician utilization supporting Ground Electronic Warfare (EW). It is a replacement to the legacy AN/PLT-4 and its predecessor, AN/PLT-3, collectively in operation since 1999. The Parry Labs electronic warfare system supports the safety and security of our troops against modern improvised explosions and electromagnetic threats and will enhance the warfighter’s ability to safely conduct operations and help ensure US forces remain dominant on the battlefield of the future.

It is environmentally rugged with a simple, configurable user interface with an integrated design that enables fast deployment with no assembly required to initiate the mission. DEFENDER has custom waveforms and algorithms to support efficient and targeted jamming which prevents remote triggering of Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices while simultaneously allowing for communications among friendly assets, which is important as a broadening array of commercial electronics devices continue to become available as technology advances and becomes less expensive, making it increasingly easier for our adversaries to design EW systems.

Parry Labs, as a sub-contractor to ADS Inc. was awarded a $38 million delivery order by DLA Troop Support on behalf of the U.S Army for production of DEFENDER in their Columbia, Maryland office in April 2023.
