Mission Command on the Move: NEXUS

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) has innovated a new concept for Mission Command on the Move (MCOTM) for the U.S. Army. The brand-new NEXUS (NGC2-ready Expeditionary X-domain Undetectable Stryker) vehicle is designed to solve issues for Army command posts, which are too stationary, too large, too easily detected, too easily targeted and too easy to kill.

Key features include:
1) Improved rear hull, providing increased cargo room for Soldiers and equipment and flexible configurations of C5ISR equipment
2) Integrated technology from best-in-class partners for mission command, battlefield management and target acquisition software
3) Ability to control ground or air unmanned systems and provide support for counter-UAS equipment and formations

NEXUS starts with an existing Stryker A1 and adds a higher roof and redesigned sidewalls, providing additional cargo volume and internal height for extended command post operations. Its advanced computing power enables seamless integration of industry-leading technology from several major engineering vendors. It also allows for the command of multiple unmanned ground and air systems.

Using the Stryker A1, General Dynamics Land Systems demonstrates that the Army’s needs for mobility and streamlined battlefield management can be met swiftly and with minimal development efforts. When combined with PhantomLink Free Space Optic technology, information can be shared across the battlefield, enabling Soldiers to make real-time, data-driven decisions without the risks of RF emissions.

Combined features eliminate the need to sacrifice time and security by setting up tents. With NEXUS, commanders operate from their Strykers and direct the battle and robotic assets while maneuvering.
