The Association for the U.S. Army’s (AUSA) Center for Leadership Leader Solarium is a three-day professional development event for U.S. Army leaders serving at the Brigade level and below, planned and executed on behalf of the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General Randy George.
Inspired by President Dwight D. Eisenhower's tradition of using upward feedback to find solutions for organizational issues. This year’s Leader Solarium is a three-day program designed for 110 specially selected Battalion Commanders and Sergeant Majors across the Total Army. The 2024 Leader Solarium theme is “How can the Army strengthen the profession?”
The Leader Solarium begins with a briefing on the current state of operations by the Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) and the Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA). Participants are given a problem set to consider and work in small groups to formulate solutions. On the third day, these groups present their solutions to the Secretary of the Army, CSA, and SMA. This final briefing is a unique opportunity, as no other event in the U.S. Army brings together the three most senior leaders to receive upward feedback from service members to recommend solutions.
Who attends the Leader Solarium?
Attendance at the Solarium is by invitation only. The Leader Solarium attendees are 110 U.S. Army Battalion Commanders and Sergeant Majors from across the Total Army, specially selected and confirmed to participate by their Major Commands.
